Five volumes for the five régions of the World.

« The desire to know the world, its people, and the thousands of ways we lead our daily lives, is one shared by all of humankind »... «I was impressed by the fact that despite modern communications tools and systems, which were supposed to revolutionise our world, people from different parts of the world still don’t know much about one another.»

From these thoughts originated Hélène Tremblay’s idea for Families of the World: to experience first-hand and record daily life all over the world through an experience common to most everyone : the family. It is at the heart of our objective to make the Families of the World Collection accessible to all families of the world.

Twenty years later, we are still pursuing the objective of offering you a collection of 5 volumes for the families of the five continents. At this day, 88,000 English and French copies of the two first volumes have been distributed world wide.

So far, 116 countries have been visited and Helene Tremblay has lived with families of the Americas and Caribbean, of East and Southeast Asia, the Pacific, and from all over Europe. Helene has lived with families in Africa and in the Middle-East as well. While giving conferences and producing more books she haas now varied her occupations.

This huge undertaking, so simple in its concept, requires a lot of resources and, support. Despite the many obstacles in our efforts to make the information available to all the families of the world, we pursue our dream of a global distribution.

Today, as the world’s wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few corporations and individuals, all the families of the world are sharing such a similar adventure that they become an important tool in promoting peace and tolerance and asking for justice and dignity for all. For this reason, the faith in our contribution to peace has never weakened.

Today, we offer you a new series of « One book-one country». We hope that the sale of this series will allow us to bring you, the following volumes of our wonderful initial Collection .
